1 August 2009 | FXB-Protravel Village Begins in Rwanda
Rwanda officially launched in July. Over the next three years, the Village will bring a comprehensive package of assistance to 80 impoverished families, directly reaching 500 children and adults, as well as thousands more in the wider community.
Protravel’s sponsorship was conceived by founder and President Priscilla Alexander as a way to honor its 25th anniversary. Protravel employees and business partners enthusiastically embraced the cause, creating exciting and innovative ways to fund the Village despite the current economic climate. Individual employees and collective offices in both the US and abroad displayed a concerted commitment to the cause by—among other things—hosting luncheons and cocktail parties, holding raffles, organizing a jewelry sale, teaching cooking classes, and forgoing catered office breakfasts.
Katie Cohen, Director of Village Fundraising at Protravel, says the experience thus far has exceeded expectations. “We began this partnership to commemorate Protravel’s Anniversary, but it has taken on a much more significant meaning thanks to the enthusiasm of our employees. Protravel now realizes it has a mission to increase its social responsibility- a commitment that will continue to thrive even after the FXB-Protravel Village efforts conclude”.
