| This holiday season, FXB is bringing brighter futures to hundreds of children in Uganda. From December 11-19, FXB will be collecting donations to give D.Light solar-powered lamps to 99 of our beneficiary families in the FXB-Villages who live in communities without electricity. We need your help to reach this goal! A single donation of just $18 buys a solar-powered lamp for one family, providing light and much, much more. Still have holiday gifts to buy? Place a donation in the name of a friend or family member. |

Your gift of $18 goes directly to purchasing a solar-powered lamp for a family in Uganda! |
How Solar-Powered Lamps Change Lives: Solar-powered lamps are safe, clean alternatives to the kerosene lamps used by most families in Uganda. The cost savings for these families can be significant, as families may spend up to 30% of their monthly income on kerosene oil. Furthermore, D.light users have reported an increase in monthly income by as much as 50% from extra lighted work hours. D.light lamps are also bright enough to provide longer and more effective study hours for children, which directly lead to increased learning and higher test scores. Lastly, giving solar-powered lamps to families decreases the negative impact that kerosene lamps have on the health and safety of families, their communities, and our world. Kerosene lamps are a key contributor to indoor air pollution, which claims the lives of 1.5 million people each year, over half of which are under the age of five. Kerosene lamps have also caused countless deaths by suffocation, burns, and fatal fires. D.light lamps are safe to use, and each effectively reduces global carbon emissions on the scale of tens of thousands of tons! To learn more, visit the D.Light website. |
If this pilot initiative to bring solar lights to 99 families in Uganda is successful, FXB will seek distributors of similar lamps in other countries where we help families.
